Falling With Style – Lost and Found [EP REVIEW]

Falling With Style - Lost and Found [EP REVIEW]

Their third release in four years, ‘Lost and Found’ identifies a much more mature and developed sound than Falling With Style‘s previous releases. The endless rise in talent and songwriting from the Welsh quintet is maintained with this EP as they continue to stamp their name into the UK unsigned scene.

One of the most formidable and energetic bands on stage; they encapsulate this feeling within every song on the record. Opening track and single Half Measures throws you straight into the deep end of vocalist Lucas Woodland’s pool of emotions; mixing strong anthemic vocal patterns with lyrics based on building from mistakes made in life, and coming out stronger on the other end.

This pattern continues with the second track Deathbeds. Another catchy chorus sandwiched between fast riffs and a tantalising solo from lead guitarist Ryan James keeps the EP going at a satisfying pace.

Just the mere mention of track three, S05E14 will send Breaking Bad fans into a heartbreak relapse. We don’t want to spoil the show for you, but you might need a Hanky… The song itself is short and relaxing, with deep lyrics based once again on optimism in dark times.

Paper Thin and Solace And Safety are both fast paced, with more catchy choruses that have become the epitome of the Welsh youngsters music. The former song blends Woodland’s humble tones with rhythm guitarist Scott Carey’s harsher vocals, with suitable use of chants and lead guitar whilst drummer Thom Pike pounds his way through the track. This trend follows with Solace And Safety, as the post-hardcore group consistently deliver songs of the highest quality.

The EP ends with Daylight, rounding off the record with even more exceptional songwriting. The last two minutes of the EP alone is superbly put together. Woodland and Carey once again mix their cries with a downbeat mid-section, leading perfectly into a powerful musical ending.

In all, ‘Lost And Found’ is brilliantly sequenced. It’s clear the group have put a lot of time and effort in to every song, and it would come as no surprise if we were to see this band on some of the biggest tours and stages in the coming years. Falling With Style have expertly taken another step up the industry staircase to stardom.

‘Lost And Found’ is set for release on March 30th.
